John headed up GT Management’s London based investment team covering Eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa during the 1990’s. Prior to this he specialised in European mainstream equities from 1984. In 1995 he launched and managed the GT Africa Fund, the first such mutual fund of its kind. He moved to Zimbabwe in 1997 and in 1998 established Fleming Asset Management Zimbabwe (renamed Imara Asset Management). He also helped establish Fleming Asset Management in Botswana, on behalf of the Robert Fleming Group. He has travelled extensively in Africa, and has a long track record of managing assets on the continent.
